HUMAN RIGHTS NOTEBOOKS FOR CHILDREN

LAHORE (PR) - Specially designed notebooks, highlighting human rights of children, were distributed among the primary school children at Chak 73/RB Karianwala, District Faisalabad by an NGO, PARADISE.

The orientation program was organized by organized by an NGO, PARADISE, as a part of “human rights awareness program for the children”. The children were informed about the basic children rights such as right to life, right to education and right to leisure etc. The notebooks included sketches on the human rights, which could be used as colour book while the remaining pages could be used as a normal notebook.

The children actively participated in the programme and put questions showing their enthusiasm. Similarly, a program has also been initiated for creating awareness among the women of their rights.

WALK BY ROTARY CLUB

Rotary Clubs in Lahore organized a very successful Rotary Centennial Polio Awareness Walk from AlHamra Hall to LDA Plaza, Egerton Road to commemorate the Rotary Centennial celebrations. District Governor Rauf Rohaila and Governor Nominees Ateeq Barry, Shakil Ansari and Aziz Memon led the Walk besides other notable Rotarians. The Walk had active participation from UNICEF, the Health department, PARADISE, Descon IT24 and from professional belonging to various walks of life. The participants showed their enthusiasm by holding banners and by wearing Rotary caps showing Rotary Centennial and Polio awareness messages. The speakers urged the participants and the masses to actively participate in the war against Polio so that Pakistan can be made Polio free. There are only six countries in the world left with Polio and unfortunately Pakistan is one of them. Children are our assets and future of our nation. It is our duty to keep them safe and healthy by providing the Polio vaccine drops to the children on the National Immunization Days (NIDs). Polio eradication dream can only be realized if we all work together and provide one hundred percent coverage of polio vaccine to all children under five years of age. Rotarian Shehzad Ahmed, organizer of the Walk informed that Rotary banners have been displayed on New Khan buses and four floats have specially been designed to create awareness about the various service projects being undertaken by Rotary.

WORKSHOP

LAHORE-PARADISE, an NGO, organized a one- day training workshop on “Effective Business Communication” as a Part of its monthly “Leadership Training Program for the Youth.” PROMARK and Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison sponsored the workshop.
Shehzad Ahmed and Nawab Ali conducted the training session as resource persons and provided training to the participants on grammar and sentence structure, business letter formats, writing effective letters and memos and, tips on report writing with examples from actual business correspondence.
At the end of the Workshop the participants shared their appreciation for the training program and mentioned that such programs help them in performing better in their professional careers.
The Leadership Training Program was started in November last year and this was the third workshop under this program.

LAHORE: PROMARK organized a one-day training workshop on “Time Management” as a part of its monthly program of “Leadership Training Program for the Youth.” About twenty young professionals participated in the workshop, which was sponsored by an NGO PARADISE and Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison. Col (retd) Nawab Ali and Shehzad Ahmed acted as the resource persons and provided training to the participants in understanding importance of time and its management, effective time planning, practical goal setting, identifying time wasters and tips on controlling interruptions. The interactive workshop included discussion on case studies and experiences shared by the participants.

Shehzad Ahmed and Col (R) Nawab Ali acted as the resource persons and provided training to the participants in understanding importance of time and its management, effective time planning, practical goal setting, identifying time wasters and tips on controlling interruptions.

The interactive workshop included discussion on case studies and experiences shared by the participants. At the end of the Workshop, the participants termed the workshop very practical and asked to keep organizing such workshops for the benefit of the youth.

Shehzad Ahmed announced “Effective Business Communication” as the topic for the next training workshop and pledged to hold at least one such workshop on a monthly basis to help the youth in improving their skills by learning from the professionals.

UNIFORMS, SPORTS KITS DISTRIBUTED

LAHORE – PARADISE and Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison distributed uniforms and sports kits among the members of PARADISE Sports Club in village Chak no. 73 / RB Karianwala, Faisalabad.

Col (Retd) Nawab Ali, President PARADISE, and Past Rotary Governor, Ashraf Baig presented the sports kits to the club members.

Shahzad Ahmed also addressed the youth on the occasion and informed them that some micro-credit schemes are also being planned for the benefit of the youth.

Meanwhile, Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison organised a Public Health Awareness Seminar where Dr Nawaz Chughtai addressed the gathering and informed about the “Prostate Enlargement and its Complications” with the help of an informative multimedia presentation.

About fifteen young professionals participated in the workshop, which was sponsored by Promark and Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison. Shehzad Ahmed and Syed Hussnain Kazmi acted as the resource persons and provided training to the participants in understanding customer service, importance of innovative thinking, customers perception and expectations, tips for customers retention and customers complaint handling.
The finer details were taught with the help of case studies. At the end of the Workshop, the participants termed the workshop very practical and asked to keep organizing such workshops for the benefit of the youth. Shehzad Ahmed announced plans to hold at least one such workshop on a monthly basis to help the youth in improving their skills by learning from the professionals.

NGO GETS $15,000 FINANCIAL AID

LAHORE - Rotary Foundation has given a matching grant of US$ 15,000 to PARADISE, an NGO working to eradicate illiteracy and improve health, to set up a computer centre in Lahore.
This was announced by Col (R) Nawab Ali, President of Paradise in its monthly meeting.
The members were also informed about providing sponsorship for a seminar on environment organised by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This members agreed to set up a few government schools to provide basic necessities to the schools and the students and to upgrade the school of facilities with funds generated through own resources.
Shehzad Ahmed, Vice-President of the Society thanked members for their continued support and also informed them that the scholarship programme would be started soon for which seed money has already been collected.

AAMIR LEADS CITY WALK AGAINST POLIO

THE Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison and PARADISE Saturday organized a polio awareness walk from Directorate of Health to the Lahore Zoo. Lahore Nazim Mian Aamir Mahmood led the walk, which was participated by DG Health Dr Yaqoob Jaffar, Rotary Club president Shehzad Ahmed, the officials of the Health Department, NGOs and schoolchildren. Aamir urged people to actively participate in the war against polio. Other speakers also urged parents to ensure their children were administered polio drops on September 25-27.

WALK

LAHORE – Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison and PARADISE are organizing a Polio Awareness Walk on Saturday (today). The walk will start from Directorate of Health, Cooper Road and end at Bagh e Jinnah. The walk will be led by Minister of Health, Minister for Social Welfare and the District Nazim. The walk is being organized to create awareness about the deadly polio disease and to urge parents to provide the polio vaccine drops to their children on the national immunization campaign from September 25-27.
